LBPAC's Sleeping Beauty will showcase the remarkable dramatic and technical abilities of the LBPAC dancers. Restaged by the LBPAC Artistic Directors, based on the 1890 Russian ballet that brought to life French writer Charles Perrault’s 1697 version of the fairy tale, La Belle au Bois Dormant – The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods. Still today, more than 120 years after it premiered at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, The Sleeping Beauty is considered one of the grandest achievements in classical ballet.  It was a collaborative work of the legendary Russian Ballet choreographer Marius Petipa, with famed Russian composer Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. An enduring tale of a princess cursed by the malevolent fairy to sleep for 100 years captivates audiences with powerful and technically dazzling choreography.
